The Professional Development Committee is in full swing working on content for our upcoming Winter Institute to be held in Troy, Michigan. The conference will run January 25–28 and will be hosted at the Detroit Marriott Troy. The focus of this conference will be on a number of relevant topics, including personal development, relationship management, finance, and ethics.
A call for sessions had been distributed to interested parties. If you or someone you know is interested in presenting at the upcoming conference, you can find the call for sessions at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RYZRQHQ.
Each year the MME works to secure sponsors to support our education efforts. The PDC is charged with securing sponsorships to cover the cost of the MME annual conference. Members reach out to the various groups and businesses that they know seeking this support. Aaron Desentz began his career in public administration in the Village of Shelby as the village administrator in 2013. From 2015 until 2018 Aaron worked for the City of Leslie and from 2018 until October 2021 Aaron worked for the City of Eaton Rapids. He now works as the city manager in Mount Pleasant. Over that period of time, Aaron has also served as a volunteer firefighter, a certified zoning administrator through Michigan State University, and as an assessor. In his free time Aaron enjoys weightlifting, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and gardening. Aaron can be reached at manager@mt-pleasant.org.
