MME members recently voted on proposed constitution amendments for our organization. That membership vote closed on September 12 and both amendments passed overwhelmingly.
The Constitution change to Article IV updating the failure to pay section passed 84% yes to 16% no; and the proposed change to Articles V & VI clarifying when the directors and officers take office and revising the nominations process passed 77% yes to 23% no. A total of 133 members voted. The changes also mean that nominations for the board are now open until Oct. 15.
The MME Board felt that the proposed amendments to the organization’s constitution encourage more eligible members the opportunity to vote and will provide greater choice while still encouraging broad representation from across all aspects of our membership.
With the approval of the MME’s Constitutional Amendments the new nominations process is in effect. Nominations for Officers and Directors are being accepted from now until Oct. 15. Send nominations to nominations@mme.org. This email will go to the nominating committee members. They are:
- Rebecca Fleury, City Manager, Battle Creek; MME Immediate Past President; Nominating Committee Chairperson
- Christine Burns, Village Manager, Spring Lake; President Elect
- John Shay, Administrator, Ottawa County
- Penny Hill, Assistant City Manager, Traverse City
- Robert La Fave, Village Manager, L’Anse
- Rachel Smolinski, City Manager, Alpena
- Paul Sincock, City Manager, Plymouth
- Troy Bell, City Manager, Muskegon Heights
MME President Cain is considering adding two additional members to this year’s nominating committee. Information regarding any additional members will be shared on the listserv when and if that takes place.
Thanks to all that helped with this process and then voted on it.
