Fenton City Manager Lynn Markland to Lead Statewide Michigan Municipal Executives Association - Feb. 13, 2019
Fenton City Manager Lynn Markland is the new president of the statewide association representing Michigan’s municipal managers. Markland was selected as the 2019 president of the Michigan Municipal Executives (MME) during the organization’s annual Winter Institute in Battle Creek Feb. 5-8. Markland succeeds Patrick Sullivan, Northville city manager, who now serves as immediate past president. Markland served the past year as the organization’s president-elect.

Retired Midland Assistant City Manager Jack Duso received the 2018 John M. Patriarche Distinguished Service Award for his service to Michigan communities spanning multiple decades.The Patriarche Award is the highest honor given by the Michigan Municipal Executives (MME). The Award was created in 1992 and recognizes members who have fostered representative democracy by enhancing the effectiveness of local-elected officials through innovative programs and excellence in character and professionalism.
L'Anse Village Manager Selected for Michigan Municipal League Board - July 11, 2019
L’Anse Village Manager Robert A. La Fave has been selected to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Michigan Municipal League – a statewide organization representing the state’s cities and villages. La Fave was appointed by the 18-member board in June to fill former Sault Ste. Marie City Manager Oliver Turner’s vacancy. Turner recently moved out of state for a new position in Ohio.

The Michigan Municipal League has honored Sterling Heights City Manager Mark Vanderpool with the Jim Sinclair Exceptional Service Award. He received the recognition during the League’s annual Capital Conference Awards Gala March 19 in Lansing. Long-time Sterling Heights City Manager Mark Vanderpool truly embodies the words “exceptional service” as defined by the Jim Sinclair Award. In his nearly 15 years as Sterling Heights’ city manager, Vanderpool has worked tirelessly to better his community, the region, state, and cities across the nation.

Patrick Sullivan, Northville’s city manager, is the new president of the statewide association representing Michigan’s municipal managers. Sullivan was selected as the 2018 president of the Michigan Municipal Executives (MME) during the organization’s annual Winter Institute in Ann Arbor Jan. 30-Feb. 2. Sullivan succeeds Keith Van Beek, Ottawa County deputy administrator. Sullivan served the past year as the organization’s president-elect.
