The 2019 International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) annual conference in Nashville was filled with relevant topics and workshops. Although I did not attend an ICMA University workshop this year, I did have the pleasure of attending cybersecurity and emergency management-related sessions that broadened my knowledge in the field. These issues are trending, and I believe it is my duty to stay abreast of best practices to address complex situations. Emerging issues must be met with innovative solutions to better our communities. Resilience is key to preparation and prosperity. This year’s ICMA conference equipped me with an innovative skillset to tackle big problems our communities may face. I also learned to appreciate Music City’s ambiance and culture.
